Security Department

OVERVIEW

The security department is in charge of maintaining security outside and inside the ship. On the ship, security personnel act if needed as the enforcement of the Captain's and Starfleet orders.  This is done through a dispatching network throughout the ship, and an advanced isolation and pinpoint system. Responsible for the distribution and accessibility to all onboard handheld phasers, and partly responsible to their functionality, all security officers carry phasers while on duty. 

The security crew is trained in combat and apprehension procedures. They are required by regulation to always accompany away missions in case protection is required. The USS THUNDERCHILD does not maintain a Marine contingent. 

Additionally, the security department is responsible for assisting Operations personnel in sealing off places where disasters such as onboard fires, hull breaches, etc. occur, and help fix it.
